Virtual School Programs

Online tours led by museum educators bring the New York Transit Museum to students, teachers and caregivers at home or school. Explore the Museum’s unique space, vintage trains, and exhibitions with inquiry-based virtual tours, discussions of archival images, hands-on activities, and interactive storytelling. Discover how transportation shaped New York City throughout history to present day. Programs are designed for the unique online format while maintaining discussion-based and interactive experiences.

From the immigrant workforce that built the subway system, to transportation’s influence on neighborhood development, the rich history and diversity of New York City comes alive through discussion, photographs, and stories

Discover the magnitude and complexity of New York City’s public transportation system by virtually exploring elements of construction, engineering, organization and impact over time in this introduction to transit history

Subway Tracks

Special Education Only: 6th Grade – Adult Learners

Explore New York City’s subway system from past to present. Track the history of our complex transit system while also engaging in conversation around how we safely ride the subway today.

Experiences are designed for one class at a time, allowing us to tailor the program to the individual requirements of each group. Programs are available as space allows.

Requests for programs must be made at least 2 weeks in advance.


Fees and Group Size:

General Education Programs: $100 per class of up to 36 participants (including children and chaperones)

Special Education Programs: $50 per class of up to 17 participants (including children and chaperones)
