The John and Arthur Erlitz Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the New York Transit Museum!

There are multiple opportunities to contribute to our Museum and its educational programs. Volunteers in the John and Arthur Erlitz Volunteer Program support one of New York City’s cultural treasures and become knowledgeable ambassadors of the Museum, sharing our rich transportation history with our audiences, young and old, from near and far.

What you can do

Volunteers can use their specific strengths and experiences to help support the Museum in a variety of ways –  guided tours of the Museum, visitor service, working with families, assistance with special events and office administration.

What you will get in return

Working with a wonderful group of Educators and Volunteers on-site at the Museum is a rewarding learning environment. Volunteers also have the opportunity to take part in exciting off-site excursions and tours and also receive many of the perks of Museum Membership, including Museum Store discounts and invitations to special events.
