Join the Transit Museum on the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the fighting in World War I for the tolling of the bells, a traditional expression of honor and remembrance. A century ago, 4.7 million American families sent their sons and daughters off to World War I; 500,000 of those who served were from the state of New York, and more than 13,000 of the 116,516 who lost their lives in the war called New York state home. The museum will welcome visitors early at 10:45 am before a short ceremony and the ringing of bells on the platform level at 11:00 am in remembrance of all those who served, including the more than 3 dozen people who worked in the transit system who died in World War I.
