Join Associate Curator Jodi Shapiro for a discussion of Flight of the Redbirds, an exhibition that examines the 1,410 subway cars that captured the imaginations of millions, and still evoke expressions of love to this day, especially as part of the Transit Museum’s fleet of vintage subway cars.
Join us for an evening of drawing at the New York Transit Museum! Hosted by New York City-based illustrator, James Yang, the evening will begin with an introduction to Yang's work. Following the conversation, explore the Museum and draw inspiration from bygone days in our 1936 decommissioned subway station and vintage subway cars.

The Corona Yard is the home yard of the 7 train, a subway route that rides along one of the most diverse stretches of New York City. Dating back to 1928, the Corona Yard operates 24/7 to inspect, repair, and wash a formidable fleet of R188 subway cars used on the 7 train subway route. It is located in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park near Citi Field, the National Tennis Center, and the site of the 1939 and 1964 World's Fairs. Raymond DelValle, General Superintendent, leads this members-only behind-the-scenes look at the people and machinery that keep our trains on the go.
