Transit Walk–Deep Dive: A West Bronx Station Stroll
Saturday, November 2 | 12:00 pm - 2:00 pmSOLD OUT
The two parallel subway routes in the West Bronx north of Yankee Stadium, along Jerome Avenue (#4) and Grand Concourse (D), exhibit many station layouts and designs unique to New York City subways. Join transit historian and CUNY professor Andrew Sparberg on a walking tour to explore the unique layouts of two subway routes in the Bronx, the 4 IRT Woodlawn-Jerome elevated line and the IND D train under the Grand Concourse. Learn interesting facts about how topography and street layouts in this area required innovative solutions and how these subway routes were seen as a challenge during the construction of the Cross Bronx Expressway.
