TRANSIT TALKS ON SENIOR WEDNESDAYS
Wednesday, February 7 | 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFREE
Transit planning is a complicated process in New York City! After a short tour of select subway cars on the platform, join transit historian and long-time Transit Museum volunteer Andrew Sparberg in a discussion about the 50th anniversary of the Chrystie Street Connection, a landmark project opened in 1967 and 1968 that created new direct routes for Brooklyn-Manhattan train services and included a new station at Grand Street. The Chrystie Street project also resulted in some now-unused track stubs that will also be discussed.
Transit Talks on Senior Wednesdays allow visitors to relive the experience of traveling through New York City during the twentieth century! During Transit Talks, seniors ages 62+ have the opportunity to explore our hands-on collection of vintage subway and elevated cars and discover the history, technology, design and future of transportation.
