ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The first subway tunnels in New York City were essentially built by hand and the hard labor of a largely immigrant workforce. After going on a focused tour of our construction exhibit, Steel, Stone & Backbone, we will explore further using images and artifacts from the archive to see just what an amazing achievement these subterranean tunnels were and remain today.
Transit Talks on Senior Wednesdays allow visitors to relive the experience of traveling through New York City during the twentieth century! During Transit Talks, seniors ages 62+ have the opportunity to explore our hands-on collection of vintage subway and elevated cars and discover the history, technology, design and future of transportation.
