ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Once upon a time you needed a ticket to ride but fare media and fare collection have undergone some big changes in the last 150 years! How much was the subway or bus fare when you first started riding? Do you have a favorite token design? Did you ever get trapped in the “Iron Maiden” turnstiles? Join us for a walk through our newly re-designed exhibit, Ticket to Ride and an informal conversation about traveling on and under the streets of our city and suburbs.

Transit Talks on Senior Wednesdays allow visitors to relive the experience of traveling through New York City during the twentieth century! During Transit Talks, seniors ages 62+ have the opportunity to explore our hands-on collection of vintage subway and elevated cars and discover the history, technology, design and future of transportation.
