From Third Avenue Elevated to Second Avenue Subway: A Long and Tortuous Route, 1878-2015

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
On the sixty-second anniversary of the closing of Manhattan’s Third Avenue Elevated line, Andy Sparberg, a long-time Transit Museum volunteer and retired LIRR manager, will present an illustrated lecture focusing on the history of the line. Using photos from the Transit Museum archives, Sparberg will trace the history of the Third Avenue El from its origins to its closing and examine the tumultuous history of the conception and construction of the Second Avenue Subway line that followed it.
