ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Have you ever dreamed of driving a subway train? Would you like to see what the train operator sees as they move throughout the city? Come and join us in our computer lab to try out specially designed software, Open BVE, and have a realistic, simulated experience as a New York City Transit train operator! As we take turns at the computers we’ll share our favorite memories of riding the rails and the history of the world’s greatest subway system. Full instructions and on-site help will be available!

With Senior Wednesdays at the New York Transit Museum, you can relive the experience of traveling through New York City during the early, mid and late twentieth century! Explore our hands-on collection of vintage subway and elevated cars and exhibits that share the rich story of public transportation. Discover the history, technology, design and future of transportation. This program is presented as part of the Transit Museum’s Senior Wednesdays initiative. Individuals age 62 or older receive free admission every Wednesday, and special programs and tours like this on select days (excludes senior group visits). No pre-registration is required.
