In honor of Pride Month, the Transit Museum is leading a walking tour of the West Village’s transit and LGBTQ+ history. Stops will include significant historic transit sites and landmarks like the Stonewall Inn, the site of the 1969 key uprising that energized LGBTQ+ activism and launched the annual Pride tradition. Additional stops will honor places and organizations that centered LGBTQ+ cultural life in the neighborhood. As you stroll, you’ll learn about recognition and resources for the LGBTQ+ community within the MTA over time, as well as broader transit history that contributed to the development of the West Village.
