Transit Walk: Highbridge, The Bronx

Explore the rich history of New York City, past and present, one neighborhood at a time.  Through the lens of transportation, discover new places, share stories, and connect with communities. Join Senior Museum Educator Katherine Reeves in the Highbridge section of the Bronx to learn how transportation affected neighborhood development— from Edgar Allen Poe’s favored footpaths, to the oldest bridge in New York City, to abandoned trolley platforms and remnants of the Ninth Avenue elevated — and consider the future impact of transit development as the neighborhood evolves.

Walking and climbing stairs required. Please dress for the weather as this tour will take place primarily outdoors.
