Transit After Hours: Green and Sustainable Transit
Wednesday, April 20, 2022
6:00 PM
Free Online Program
Help us celebrate Earth Day with a special exploration of the MTA’s state of the art sustainability operations. Mass transit is already a city’s best solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and toxic air pollution. The MTA has played a leading role in incorporating sustainable design into the development of its infrastructure, facilities and vehicles.
In this virtual discussion, Thomas Abdallah, the Assistant VP and Chief Environmental Engineer for the MTA Construction and Development Agency, will take us through some of the MTA’s past, current and future efforts to achieve environmental sustainability, from electric buses to regenerative braking, rainwater collection and more. These efforts are designed to reduce waste, prevent pollution, conserve water, save natural resources, and ensure the transit system remains resilient in the face of a rapidly changing climate.
