Today, more than 3 centuries after the first ferries crossed the river from Brooklyn to Manhattan at its narrowest point, ferry service has returned to the spot where it began in Brooklyn. Join historian Francis Morrone to explore the neighborhood around Robert Fulton’s former ferry landing, and to understand the ways the ferries created opportunities for housing, manufacturing, commerce, and transportation throughout the borough.
This program is presented in conjunction with our upcoming exhibit From Fulton Ferry: Building Downtown Brooklyn, opening this Fall at the Transit Museum.
