Digital Discussion: Next Stop, Coney Island
Saturday, April 2nd
12:00 PM EST
Free Online Program
Coney Island is one of New York City’s most iconic destinations, visited by native New Yorkers and international tourists alike. First established as a secluded seaside resort, its reputation for natural and man-made delights eventually spurred demand for broader public access. This interest sparked fierce competition to increase the ease, speed and affordability of transport to Coney Island, which encouraged new development and an expanded array of attractions catering to a variety of tastes and budgets.
Join Educator and Experience Facilitator Joe Hartman for a digital discussion examining the relationship between public transit and the development of Coney Island. Explore how greater access via public transportation equalized a dream of fantasy and escape from New York City’s sweltering summers.
