Explore the rich history of New York City, past and present, one neighborhood at a time. Through the lens of transportation, discover new places, share stories, and connect with communities.

Weather events from the Great Blizzard of 1888 to Superstorm Sandy have profoundly shaped New York City’s transit systems. As extreme weather events have become increasingly commonplace, the MTA Climate Sustainability Team has produced innovative, ongoing solutions.

This Earth Day, join the Transit Museum and the MTA Climate Sustainability Team on this behind-the-scenes tour to explore lower Manhattan’s transit history and the MTA’s cutting-edge system resiliency efforts. You will learn how the MTA has managed devastating storms, flooding, and heat waves, and have the exclusive opportunity to visit the decommissioned Old South Ferry station.
