ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Celebrate the centennials of the Astoria (N) and Flushing (7) subway lines with author, transit historian, and retired Long Island Rail Road manager Andrew J. Sparberg. Travel along the original segment of the 7 line and then do an “up and back” on the Astoria line from Queensboro Plaza. Along the way, learn about one of the first “subway suburbs” in Queens, discover a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline, imagine elevated trains coming over the Queensboro Bridge, and examine the architectural details of some of the first subway stations built in northern Queens under the Dual Contracts.
This program is presented in conjunction with our current exhibit The 7 Train: Minutes to Midtown, now open at the New York Transit Museum Store & Gallery Annex at Grand Central Terminal.
