The MTA has one of the largest and most diverse permanent collections of public art in the world, reflecting the city’s commitment to art and culture. But unlike more traditional museum collections where female artists are underrepresented, upwards of half of the MTA’s public art projects feature work by women. These artworks are not only created to last in transit spaces frequented by millions, they also take on the city’s history and culture as subjects, marking both space and time.
Join Public Programs Manager and art historian Amy Raffel on a virtual tour of this city-wide museum, highlighting a selection of artworks by women in celebration of Women’s History Month.
