From horse-drawn carriages, steamboats, and railroads, to the buses and subways of today, transportation has played a pivotal role in Coney Island’s development as a seaside resort, the home of the world’s first amusement parks, and the densely populated neighborhood it became. Join Transit Museum Educator Katherine Reeves on a stroll that weaves together the neighborhood’s contemporary art with its transportation history.

Transit Walks are led by Museum Educators throughout the five boroughs, and they examine transportation history and contemporary landmarks one neighborhood at a time.
