Work & Co.: The New Live MTA Map

Thursday, June 3 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us once a month for Transit After-Hours: a series of conversations, presentations, workshops, and performances inspired by Transit Museum exhibitions and collections. Come together online, share ideas, and learn about transit and NYC history.

There have been many iterations of the NYC subway map over the years, each designed to help straphangers successfully navigate the extensive system. For the new digital Live Subway Map, a first of its kind guide to navigating the subway system in real time, the MTA collaborated with the Transit Innovation Partnership and Work & Co., a Brooklyn-based global design and technology firm. Using the MTA’s own data, the map continually updates routes to illustrate current and accurate train service status for a more user-friendly and convenient tool for riders.

Join us after-hours with the Work & Co. team to explore the process behind the New York City subway map’s first major redesign in four decades. Learn about elements of earlier map designs that were incorporated, discover how the designers worked through challenges they encountered, and see the innovative features of the new, dynamic map.

Please Note: This discussion will take place online. Upon registration, all participants will receive a confirmation e-mail with instructions on how to participate. We encourage you to download the Zoom app in advance for the best user experience.

Thank you for supporting the Transit Museum!
