Transit Museum Members explore the old City Hall station

With exclusive access through the Transit Museum, explore the elegant chandeliers, leaded skylights, vaulted tile ceiling, and graceful curves of this decommissioned subway station. The tour begins above ground, where you’ll learn the fascinating history of the Beach Pneumatic Tube and the development of City Hall. Then, head downstairs and be transported back to 1904, a time when the Subway’s opening and the completion of this station marked a moment of great civic pride.

Bring your senior group to the Transit Museum! Registered groups from Senior Centers throughout the Greater New York City area are welcome to visit between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm during our next Senior Center Day on Friday, June 15th. This open house will allow you and your group to explore the Transit Museum and learn more about the rich story of public transportation and the programs we offer for older adults. We hope you can join us for this special event! The event is FREE but capacity is limited and registration is required.

The Museum’s vintage train cars are headed on a special trip to the end of the line – the BMT Brighton line, that is! Ride the rails in historic style on Saturday and Sunday, June 16th and 17th, by hopping on and off a selection of the Museum’s vintage fleet at the Brighton Beach station B/Q platforms, including the Train of Many Metals featuring R10, R16, and R38 cars, BRT/BMT D-Type Triplex and B-Type Standard cars, and Brooklyn Union elevated gate cars!
